HubSpot and Salesforce Late October 2026 Updates: Braze, HMRC and the Node 22 CLI Rule

What HubSpot and Salesforce published between October 15 and October 20, 2026: Salesforce's agreement to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion, a 15-year HMRC CRM contract, a $1 billion Spain investment, and HubSpot's January 8, 2027 Node.js 22 requirement for its developer CLI.

Key takeaways

  • October 20, 2026: Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, at $47.50 in cash per Braze Class A share. Closing is expected in Salesforce's fiscal year 2028, subject to Braze shareholder and regulatory approval. Salesforce's release says nothing about pricing or existing products.
  • October 19, 2026: HubSpot announced that from January 8, 2027 its developer CLI needs Node.js v22 or higher. Node.js 20 reached end of life on April 30, 2026. Teams that run the CLI in build pipelines have about 11 weeks.
  • October 15, 2026: Salesforce said HMRC chose it as the strategic ECRM provider in a '15-year, up to 2 billion pound' agreement covering Agentforce, Public Sector Solutions, Marketing Cloud and Data 360.
  • October 19, 2026: Salesforce announced a $1 billion, five-year investment in Spain, centered on a Madrid headquarters and a team of Forward Deployed Engineers. The release does not mention data residency or Hyperforce.
  • No HubSpot company news or pricing change is dated after October 14, 2026 on the pages checked, and none of the Salesforce items is a price change.

You follow two CRM vendors and each seems to publish something every week, so the question is which of it needs action from you. Between October 15 and October 20, 2026, there are four dated items from primary sources, and only one of them, HubSpot’s developer CLI change, comes with a deadline.

This page picks up where our HubSpot October 2026 product updates (through October 14) and Salesforce Agentforce updates pages stop. Everything below was opened on October 21, 2026.

Is Salesforce buying Braze, and what does it cost?

Yes. On October 20, 2026 Salesforce said it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Braze for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, paid in cash at $47.50 per Braze Class A share. The press release expects the deal to close in Salesforce’s fiscal year 2028, subject to approval by Braze shareholders and required regulatory approvals. Salesforce expects no change to its FY27 guidance and has not guided FY28.

Braze is a customer engagement platform that reacts to behavior across mobile apps, websites, email, SMS and WhatsApp. Salesforce lists about 2,770 customers, including Canva, Dairy Queen, Instacart and Venmo. Salesforce says Braze would strengthen Marketing Cloud’s cross-channel personalization and connect with Data 360 and Agentforce.

The release makes no statement on pricing or on changes to existing products, and nothing is for sale as a combined product. Braze’s CEO says Braze will keep investing in its customers and partners.

What does the Braze deal mean for my CRM team?

For most teams it changes nothing this quarter. It matters if you use Braze or Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or you are choosing between them for lifecycle messaging.

If you are What to do now
A Braze customer Check when your contract renews and whether it has change-of-control or assignment terms. Ask your Braze contact in writing what changes before closing.
A Marketing Cloud customer Keep your current plan. Ask your account executive whether a Braze option will be offered at renewal, and get any answer in writing.
Choosing between the two for B2C messaging Avoid a multi-year commitment that assumes either product roadmap. Pick on what each does today.
On Sales Cloud only Nothing to do. The release is about marketing and customer engagement.

Verdict: wait for closing and a product announcement before planning around it. Our Salesforce editions explainer shows how Salesforce packaged its CRM in September, which is the pricing change that does exist today.

What is HubSpot’s Node.js 20 developer CLI change?

From January 8, 2027, the HubSpot developer CLI will require Node.js v22 or higher to run. HubSpot’s changelog post was announced October 19, 2026 and notes that Node.js 20 reached end of life on April 30, 2026. It says Node.js is mostly backward compatible, but compatibility is not guaranteed, and it does not name specific CLI versions.

HubSpot’s steps:

  1. Upgrade the CLI with npm i -g @hubspot/cli@latest.
  2. Move the machine or build image to Node.js 22 or higher.
  3. If you use the HubSpot GitHub Action, update it once a version with Node.js 22 support is released.

This only touches people who build on HubSpot with the CLI, such as developers shipping apps, custom code or CMS themes through Projects. Marketing, sales and service users will not see it. If a freelancer or agency built your HubSpot integrations, ask which Node version their pipeline uses. It pairs with the deadlines already on our HubSpot product updates page, where legacy private app creation closes to existing accounts on October 26, 2026.

If your integration plan includes other systems, our CRM integrations guide and API rate limits comparison cover what to check on each side.

What is the HMRC contract with Salesforce?

On October 15, 2026 Salesforce said HMRC, the UK tax authority, selected it as its strategic Enterprise Customer Relationship Management provider in what the announcement calls a “15-year, up to 2 billion pound” agreement. The plan is to consolidate legacy systems on one platform so staff see each taxpayer’s interactions together.

Products named are Agentforce, Public Sector Solutions, Marketing Cloud and Data 360, with Quantexa providing fraud-detection scores. Salesforce says Agentforce helps caseworkers with routine administration and triage, with human oversight retained. It also cites HMRC’s target of 90% of services delivered digitally by 2030.

This is a customer win, not a product or price change. For a business team the useful reading is limited: it shows Salesforce is selling a consolidate-the-legacy-systems story into large public sector accounts. If you are migrating from several old systems into one CRM, our Salesforce migration guide covers the planning side, and the Salesforce implementation cost guide has project ranges.

Source, checked Oct 21, 2026: Salesforce, October 15, 2026. The release gives two reach figures (39 million in the headline, 34 million citizens plus five million businesses in the text); we do not rely on either.

What did Salesforce announce about Spain?

On October 19, 2026 Salesforce announced a $1 billion investment in Spain over five years, centered on a new Madrid headquarters. Its release describes an AI Implementation Team that pairs Forward Deployed Engineers with a regional recruiting and training center, and says graduates from the EMEA South region will train in Spain for a year and then return home.

For customers the release points to more implementation capacity in Southern Europe, with Repsol, CaixaBank and Telefonica named as Spanish Agentforce users. It does not mention data residency or Hyperforce, so do not read it as a statement about where your data is stored. If that matters to your compliance team, ask Salesforce directly.

What did we not find?

Three things we looked for and could not confirm from a primary page:

  • HubSpot: no company news, pricing page change or changelog entry about packaging after October 14. The pricing page shows a limited-time Starter promotion of up to 65% off for new customers and states no effective dates. The October 6 message about pricing is covered on our earlier page, and no new price followed it in what we checked. Our HubSpot pricing and limits page has current numbers.
  • Salesforce Winter ’27: we could not open a Salesforce primary page with release dates after October 14. The Admin release countdown returned a 403 and the Trust maintenance page we tried returned a 404. Third-party guides we found place production upgrades before mid-October, so we make no Winter ’27 claim. Check your instance on Trust.
  • Salesforce pricing: none of the items above changes a price. The September 3 editions change is still the current one.

What should a CRM team do this week?

  • HubSpot admins and developers: find out whether anyone runs the HubSpot CLI in a pipeline and put the Node 22 move on the calendar before January 8, 2027. Review the October 26 legacy private app date from our earlier page.
  • Salesforce customers: nothing needs to change. If you use Marketing Cloud or Braze, note the renewal date and ask what the acquisition means for it.
  • Anyone comparing the two: judge them on what you can buy today, using HubSpot vs Salesforce, the Salesforce pricing calculator and the HubSpot pricing calculator.
  • If you want a second opinion on an implementation or migration, see our HubSpot and Salesforce services or contact us.

FAQs

What did Salesforce announce on October 20, 2026?

Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Braze, a customer engagement platform, for about $5.66 billion in enterprise value, paying $47.50 in cash per Braze Class A share. It expects closing in its fiscal year 2028, subject to Braze shareholder approval and regulatory approvals. Salesforce expects no change to its FY27 guidance.

Will the Braze acquisition change my Salesforce Marketing Cloud pricing or contract?

Nothing in Salesforce's announcement changes pricing or existing products, and the deal has not closed. Salesforce says Braze should strengthen Marketing Cloud's cross-channel personalization once combined. Until closing and a product announcement, treat your current Marketing Cloud and Braze terms as unchanged and ask your account contact about renewal timing.

Is HubSpot changing its pricing in late October 2026?

No change is dated after October 14 on HubSpot's company news page, developer changelog or pricing page, as checked October 21, 2026. The pricing page shows a Starter promotion of up to 65% off for new customers and states no effective dates. The October 6 CEO message about changing pricing has still not produced a published price.

What does HubSpot's Node.js 20 CLI sunset mean for me?

It affects people who run the HubSpot developer CLI, for example in a build or deploy pipeline. From January 8, 2027 the CLI requires Node.js v22 or higher. HubSpot says to upgrade with npm i -g @hubspot/cli@latest and move to Node 22 or later. Marketers and sales users of HubSpot are not affected.

What is the HMRC Salesforce contract?

On October 15, 2026 Salesforce said HMRC selected it as its strategic Enterprise Customer Relationship Management provider, described as a 15-year agreement worth up to 2 billion pounds. It consolidates legacy systems and uses Agentforce, Public Sector Solutions, Marketing Cloud and Data 360. Quantexa supplies fraud-detection tools. It is a public sector deal, not a product change.

Did Salesforce Winter '27 release anything after October 14?

We found no Winter '27 date after October 14 on a Salesforce primary page we could open. The Admin release countdown returned an error and Trust's maintenance page was not found when we checked. Third-party guides place the production upgrades before mid-October. Check your own instance on Salesforce Trust before relying on any date.

Where can I check these updates myself?

HubSpot posts developer changes on its developer changelog and company news on hubspot.com/company-news. Salesforce posts on its newsroom at salesforce.com/news and keeps release and maintenance dates on Trust. Every date on this page is the date shown on the linked vendor page, checked October 21, 2026.

Should a small CRM team care about any of this?

Mostly no. The HubSpot CLI rule matters only if you or a developer run that CLI. The Salesforce items are an acquisition that has not closed, a government contract and a regional investment. If you are weighing the two vendors on features and price today, a side-by-side comparison will tell you more than these announcements.
