Can I Use My Own Twilio Account With GoHighLevel? Twilio vs LC Phone in 2026
Quick answer
HighLevel says Twilio remains supported, but LC Phone is now the default and recommended phone system. Existing agencies can keep a connected Twilio account; moving between the two is a support-ticket migration that takes about 1 to 2 business days, and A2P registrations may need redoing.

Key takeaways
- Yes, if your agency already has Twilio connected. HighLevel's help center says Twilio "remains supported" while LC Phone is "the default and recommended option".
- HighLevel doesn't say whether a brand-new agency can still connect its own Twilio. Plan on LC Phone for new builds.
- LC Phone texts cost $0.00747 per segment in the US and Canada, plus carrier fees. HighLevel says its LC Phone prices match Twilio's.
- Moving numbers between Twilio and LC Phone takes about 1 to 2 business days through a support ticket. Call recordings and history stay in Twilio, so download them first.
- A2P 10DLC registrations made in your own Twilio may need to be completed again through HighLevel after a move.
Yes, if your agency already has Twilio connected. HighLevel’s phone system FAQ says Twilio “remains supported”, while its own LC Phone (LeadConnector Phone) is “the default and recommended option”. HighLevel doesn’t say anywhere we could find whether a brand-new agency can still connect its own Twilio account. Its agency-managed Twilio article is written for agencies that already have one. For a new build, plan on LC Phone.

Should you use Twilio or LC Phone?
For most agencies and businesses, LC Phone. Keep Twilio only when you have a specific reason to.
| LC Phone | Your own Twilio | |
|---|---|---|
| Status in HighLevel | Default and recommended | Still supported for connected accounts |
| Who bills you | HighLevel, from the wallet | Twilio, directly |
| Who supports it | HighLevel | Twilio for the carrier side, HighLevel for the app side |
| Setup | Inside HighLevel | Twilio account, then credentials in HighLevel |
| Use numbers outside HighLevel | No | Yes |
| A2P 10DLC registration | Inside HighLevel | Done in Twilio; may need redoing in HighLevel after a move |
| Reselling to clients | LC Phone rebilling, 5% markup on pass-through fees | Twilio rebilling, configured separately |
Comparison drawn from HighLevel’s own descriptions of the two options. The trade-offs for Twilio (direct contract, use outside HighLevel) are why some agencies keep it.
What does LC Phone cost compared with Twilio?
HighLevel’s pricing and billing guide (updated September 29, 2026) says LC Phone prices match Twilio’s. These are the US and Canada rates it lists:
| Item | LC Phone price |
|---|---|
| SMS, inbound or outbound | $0.00747 per segment |
| MMS, outbound | $0.0220 per message |
| Outbound call | $0.0166 per minute |
| Inbound call, local | $0.01165 per minute |
| Inbound call, toll-free | $0.0198 per minute |
| Call recording | $0.0025 per minute |
| Local / toll-free number | $1.15 / $2.15 per month |
| A2P 10DLC, low-volume brand | $22.50 one-time, plus a monthly campaign fee up to $10.50 |
| A2P 10DLC, standard brand | $64.00 one-time, plus $10.50 a month |
Carrier fees are added per message on both systems. For outbound SMS, HighLevel lists AT&T at $0.0035 and T-Mobile at $0.0045 per message. A 1,000-text month to AT&T customers therefore costs about $7.47 in SMS plus $3.50 in carrier fees, before any rebilling markup. For the full fee list, see the GoHighLevel hidden costs guide or run your numbers in the pricing calculator.
How do you move from Twilio to LC Phone?
HighLevel’s number migration guide and its Twilio migration article describe a support-led move:
- Download what stays behind. Call recordings, voicemails and call history stay in Twilio. Export anything you need to keep.
- Collect the details. Your Twilio Account SID, the destination sub-account ID, the list of numbers and a cutover window outside business hours.
- Open a support ticket with HighLevel and include everything from step 2.
- Expect a short interruption at cutover. The move takes about 1 to 2 business days.
- Check A2P status. HighLevel says a registration done in your own Twilio may need to be completed again through HighLevel. Don’t restart texting campaigns until the campaign shows approved.
- Test both directions. Send and receive a text, place and receive a call, and trigger a missed-call text-back on each moved number.
Don’t release numbers at Twilio until HighLevel confirms the move. If the cutover leaves texts failing, our SMS error code guide maps each code to its fix, and the A2P rejection guide covers registration problems.
What if the number is with a different carrier?
Numbers from AT&T, Verizon, RingCentral and similar providers are ported into LC Phone. This takes longer than a Twilio migration. HighLevel’s port-in guide requires a signed letter of authorization, and the name and service address must exactly match the current carrier’s records; PO boxes are not accepted. The migration guide estimates 2 to 4 weeks for fewer than 50 numbers and 6 to 8 weeks for larger batches. Our FAQ on keeping your business number in GoHighLevel covers the port step by step. Numbers outside the US need regulatory bundles first; see can GoHighLevel send SMS outside the US.
When is it worth getting help?
A phone migration touches every texting workflow, every missed-call text-back and the A2P registration that decides whether texts deliver at all. Multi-location accounts multiply that by the number of locations. aibrevo moves numbers, re-files A2P and retests every workflow as part of its GoHighLevel implementation service, with published price bands. If you are on Twilio today and unsure whether to move, book a 30-minute call and bring your Twilio usage for the last three months.
