Can GoHighLevel Send Bulk SMS?
Quick answer
Yes. In Contacts, select contacts or a smart list, choose Send SMS, and send all at once, at a scheduled time, or in drip mode in batches of up to 10,000. US local numbers need an approved A2P 10DLC campaign first, and your brand type caps how many segments you can send each day.
Part of the guide: GoHighLevel automation
Key takeaways
- GoHighLevel sends bulk SMS from Contacts: pick contacts or a smart list, choose Send SMS, then send all at once, at a scheduled time, or in drip mode (1 to 10,000 contacts per batch, on a schedule you set).
- On US local numbers, nothing goes out without an approved A2P 10DLC campaign. Your brand type then caps daily volume: 3,000 segments a day for Sole Proprietor, 6,000 for Low Volume Standard and 600,000 for High Volume Standard, per HighLevel's fee guide checked October 12, 2026.
- Throughput sets how fast a send finishes. At 12 messages per second (a Standard brand with a low Trust Score) 10,000 one-segment texts take about 14 minutes; at 225 per second, under a minute.
- On LC Phone, a one-segment US text costs $0.00747 plus a carrier fee of $0.0035 to $0.005, so 5,000 texts cost about $55 to $62 before any second segments.
Yes, GoHighLevel can send bulk SMS. In Contacts, select the contacts or a smart list, click Send SMS, write the message, and pick a delivery method: send all at once, send at a scheduled time, or send in drip mode, which spreads the send over batches of 1 to 10,000 contacts. Two things sit outside GoHighLevel and decide what you can actually send. US local numbers need an approved A2P 10DLC campaign first, and your brand type caps how many segments go out per day.
This page covers how to send, the limits that apply, how long a big send takes, what it costs, and the rules. Figures come from HighLevel’s help center, checked on October 12, 2026.
How to send a bulk SMS in GoHighLevel
- Build the list. In Contacts, filter to the people you want, ideally a saved smart list such as “Marketing consent = yes, last visit over 90 days”. Make sure the filter excludes anyone without consent.
- Select and click Send SMS. Select the contacts (or all results of the smart list) and choose Send SMS from the bulk actions.
- Write the message. Use
{{contact.first_name}}to personalise it, name your business, and end with opt-out wording such as “Reply STOP to opt out”. Keep it to one segment; the SMS segment counter shows when an emoji or a long line tips it into two. - Give the action a name you’ll recognise in the Bulk Actions log, such as “SMS - October reactivation”.
- Choose the delivery method (next section) and confirm.
- Watch the results in Contacts > Bulk Actions. It shows what was sent, delivered, failed or skipped.
Send to a test list of three or four staff phones first. It catches a broken custom value (“Hi ,”) before 5,000 people see it.
All at once, scheduled or drip mode: which to pick
| Delivery method | What it does | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Send all at once | Sends to everyone immediately | Short one-way announcements you don’t expect replies to |
| Send at scheduled time | Sends to everyone at the date and time you set | One-way announcements timed for a launch or a holiday |
| Send in drip mode | Sends in batches on a schedule you control | Anything you want replies to, and any large list |
| Workflow SMS (not a bulk action) | Sends when a trigger fires, such as a form or booking | Reminders, follow-ups and sequences |

HighLevel’s own advice is to use drip mode when you expect conversations, and to send only when someone can reply quickly. A reactivation text sent to 3,000 people at 10 a.m. can bring in hundreds of replies in an hour. Fifty an hour is something a team can actually answer.
Drip mode settings
Since HighLevel rebuilt drip mode in September 2025, every drip bulk action uses the same settings:
- Start On: date and time of the first batch.
- Batch Quantity: contacts per batch, 1 to 10,000.
- Repeat After: wait between batches, in minutes, hours or days.
- Send On: allowed weekdays, such as Monday to Friday.
- Process Between: allowed sending hours. These follow the account’s time zone, so check it. An Arizona account set to Denver time sends an hour early for half the year; our Arizona page explains why.
- End At: a daily cutoff, after which the drip waits for the next allowed window.
Drips can be paused and resumed from Contacts > Bulk Actions > ⋯ > Pause, picking up from the last completed batch. There is no longer a 30-day limit on how far ahead they can run. HighLevel notes that carrier and platform limits still apply, giving 1,000 SMS per minute as an example.
How many texts can you send per day?
The cap comes from your A2P 10DLC brand type and campaign, not from GoHighLevel:
| Brand type | Daily limit | Speed (major US networks) |
|---|---|---|
| Sole Proprietor | 3,000 segments, 1 number | 2.25 messages per second in total |
| Low Volume Standard | 6,000 segments, multiple numbers | 12 messages per second |
| High Volume Standard, Trust Score 1-49 | 600,000 segments | 12 messages per second |
| High Volume Standard, Trust Score 50-74 | 600,000 segments | 120 messages per second |
| High Volume Standard, Trust Score 75-100 | 600,000 segments | 225 messages per second |
| Low Volume Mixed campaign | 2,000 segments a day to T-Mobile | 3.75 messages per second |
Sources: HighLevel, A2P 10DLC Messaging Fees and A2P 10DLC MPS and Trust Scores, checked October 12, 2026. Speeds are for the major networks; smaller carriers are slower.
Two things catch people out. Limits count segments, not messages: a 200-character text is two segments, so a Sole Proprietor brand’s 3,000 becomes 1,500 people. And an account-level rate limit can sit above several campaigns, so messages past it queue rather than send faster.
How long does it take to send 10,000 texts?
Divide the list by the throughput. For 10,000 one-segment texts on the major networks:
For most local businesses, speed isn’t the problem. Replies are. That is why drip mode is usually the better choice even when the brand could send everything in a minute.
What does bulk SMS cost in GoHighLevel?
On LC Phone in the US, HighLevel charges $0.00747 per segment, inbound or outbound, and carriers add a pass-through fee per outbound segment: $0.0035 for AT&T up to $0.005 for Verizon at the time of writing.
| Send | Segments each | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 contacts | 1 | $11 to $12 |
| 5,000 contacts | 1 | $55 to $62 |
| 5,000 contacts | 2 (emoji or over 160 characters) | $110 to $125 |
| 10,000 contacts | 1 | $110 to $125 |
Our arithmetic: contacts × segments × ($0.00747 + $0.0035 to $0.005), rounded. Replies are billed at $0.00747 per segment too. Rates from HighLevel’s pricing guide and Twilio’s US carrier fees, checked October 2026.
The A2P registration has its own one-time and monthly fees; the A2P fee calculator adds those up. For the whole monthly bill, including phone and email usage, use the GoHighLevel pricing calculator.
The rules for bulk texting
HighLevel’s own bulk SMS guide sets the baseline: get consent first, identify your business by name, include opt-out wording on the first message and when it has been 90 days or more since the last one, and mark anyone who opts out as DND. Contacts already on SMS Do Not Disturb are skipped by bulk sends.
The law adds more:
- Consent. Federal rules require prior express written consent for marketing texts sent with automated systems. Record it on the contact: date, form and wording.
- Hours. Federal rules limit telephone solicitations to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the recipient’s local time. Set Process Between well inside that window.
- State laws. Some states go further. Florida’s FTSA limits hours and attempts (Florida page), Texas treats marketing texts as telephone solicitation under SB 140 (Texas page), and Arizona’s do-not-call law has covered texts since 2023.
- Bought lists. Texting a purchased list breaks the consent rule, your A2P campaign terms and HighLevel’s terms in one go. Carriers also watch opt-out and error rates, and high rates lead to filtering or suspension.
Before you send a bulk SMS, make sure you’re not about to break any of these rules; our SMS error code guide covers what carriers do when you do.
Not approved for A2P yet?
Bulk SMS from US local numbers waits for an approved A2P 10DLC campaign. How long that takes, and how to avoid the common rejections, is covered in how long A2P approval takes in GoHighLevel.
Want bulk texting set up properly?
We set up the consent capture, smart lists, drip schedules and opt-out handling as part of every GoHighLevel setup, and we file the A2P registration so the first campaign goes out on time. If you already text from GoHighLevel, the account health check flags the delivery and compliance gaps worth fixing first.
