Why Is My monday.com Form Not Working?
Quick answer
Most WorkForms problems come from five settings: Require login is on, a question is hidden or missing because of account permissions, a file upload is blocked, a question is not mapped to the column you expected, or the form owner left. monday.com documents each, plus a red conditional-logic icon that marks broken logic.

Key takeaways
- "Please log in to fill this form" means the form is restricted to logged-in monday.com members. The setting is Share form, Sharing permissions, Require login (WorkForms help article edited May 30, 2026, checked Oct 22, 2026).
- The People and Connect Boards questions need the form restricted to account members. For a public form, an admin must turn on a separate account setting, and monday warns that names, titles and photos may then be visible to outsiders.
- A form with a file upload question cannot be submitted by someone who lacks upload permission, because of the account-level file upload and download setting.
- A red conditional logic icon in the form builder means the logic is unsupported, for example it depends on an option that is hidden. A tooltip explains what to change.
- If the form owner is removed, monday assigns the next board owner. With no other board owner, an account admin is notified and the form is deactivated until a new owner is set.
A monday.com WorkForm that “does not work” is usually one of five settings: Require login is on (the “Please log in to fill this form” message), a question is hidden or missing because of account permissions, a file upload is blocked, an answer is landing in the wrong column, or the form owner has left. A sixth shows as a red icon on a question with broken conditional logic. All six are documented, and none needs a rebuild.

Why does it say “Please log in to fill this form”?
monday’s article is direct: if you see that message, the form has been restricted to logged-in monday.com account members only, and you should contact the form owner for access. The owner controls it under Share form, then Sharing permissions, then Require login. There is a second option, Redirect to login page, which sends someone who is not logged in to monday’s login screen.
This setting is separate from the options on the Settings tab, so a form can look open in settings and still require login in sharing permissions. Check both. If your form should accept public submissions, turn Require login off, and look for questions that need it on, covered next.
Which symptom points to which fix?
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “Please log in to fill this form” | Require login is on | Turn it off under Sharing permissions, or log in |
| Connect Boards question not shown | Needs Require login, hidden toggle, or submitter lacks access to connected boards | Turn on login, untoggle Hide, or grant board access |
| People question not shown or not public | Form not restricted to members, or admin setting off | Restrict to members, or an admin enables the public-forms setting |
| Form cannot be submitted, has a file question | File upload and download permission is off, or submitter is a viewer | Admin enables the permission, or remove the question |
| Answer lands in a new column | Question name matches no column | Rename it, or link it from Add content |
| New column has no question | Columns do not create questions | Search the column name in Add content |
| Red icon on a question | Broken conditional logic | Read the tooltip, unhide or change the option |
| Form stopped accepting answers | Response limit, close date or deactivated form | Check Settings, and Share form, Deactivate form |
| Setting is missing | Plan feature | See the plan list below |

Why is a question missing from the form?
Start with the simple one: a hidden question has an eye icon with a slash through it in the top-right corner of its block, and the Hide question toggle in its cog menu controls it. monday adds that hidden questions are not shown on the form, though they can be seen through the browser’s Inspect Element, so do not hide anything confidential that way.
Then the permission-based ones:
- Connect Boards. The Connect Boards column must already exist on your board. In the form, the question needs Require login to monday.com on, and the Hide toggle off. If the submitter has no permission to any of the connected boards, they will not see the question, whatever you added.
- People. The question is only available if the form is restricted to account members. To use it in a public form, an admin goes to profile picture, Administration, Customization, Features, and enables the setting for public account forms to use questions with your account data. monday warns that names, titles and photos may become visible to external people filling out the form. A team cannot be assigned, only an individual.
- Subitems. One Subitems question per form, and monday lists it for Pro and Enterprise. Signature and Connect Boards are not supported inside it.
Adding a column to your board does not create a question. To link a new question to an existing column, search the column name (not the column type) in + Add content and pick the option under “Columns in.”
Why won’t the form submit or save the file?
If the account-level permission for file upload and download is disabled, a submitter without permission to upload cannot submit a form that has a file question. Viewers in the account cannot upload a file either. The fix sits with an account admin, or you can drop the file question. Drafts have their own rule: with Save as draft on, files and signatures are not saved in the draft, so a long form with attachments loses them if someone returns later.
Why do answers go to the wrong column?
Each question type maps to a column type. Single select goes to a Status column, multi select to Dropdown, short text to Text, number to Numbers, upload file and signature to Files, true or false to Checkbox, and so on. Answers collect in a column with the same name as the question. A column mapping icon appears on a question only when its name matches no board column. Hover over it to see which column will receive the answer. If you rename a question to match a column, or link it through Add content, the icon goes away.
There is also a setting to sync questions with column titles, and a separate switch for whether submissions create new items. If submissions are not creating items, check that setting and the group for answers. The import guide covers the same column-matching logic for CSV files.
How do I fix conditional logic that is not working?
Conditional logic shows a follow-up question only when an earlier answer meets a condition. The defining question must be a type that offers choices: single select, multi select or true or false. Questions with logic cannot be reordered, and a question without any logic always shows.
When logic is unsupported, the conditional logic icon turns red in the top-right corner of the question and a tooltip in the logic builder says why. monday’s example is logic that depends on “Personal purchase” when that option is hidden in the earlier question. Unhide it or pick another available option. Several rules on one question work as “or,” so any matching answer shows it.
What happens if the form owner leaves?
Responses can be disrupted. If the owner has been removed from the account, an automation assigns the next available board owner and notifies them. On a board with no other owner, an account admin is told the form will be deactivated until a new owner is assigned. Guests can only edit forms they created, and viewers cannot upload files. Change the owner from the profile icon on the form before a person’s role changes. If a form-driven automation stops after a departure, see why a monday.com automation is not running.
Plan gating also hides settings. monday’s pages list these:
| Feature | Plan named by monday.com |
|---|---|
| Hide branding, Subitems question | Pro and Enterprise |
| URL parameter pre-fill | Pro and Enterprise |
| Password protection, response editing, account pre-fill | Enterprise |

When to get help
Get help when a form feeds a lead-intake process, when submissions must create linked contacts and deals, or when public forms need account data such as owners and statuses without exposing it. A specialist can design the form, board mapping and automations together, set the sharing and permission model, and test it as a logged-out visitor. Send a message or book a short call, and see the monday.com service page for what aibrevo implements.
