How Do I Connect DocuSign to monday.com?
Quick answer
Install the DocuSign app from the monday marketplace (puzzle icon, search DocuSign, Install app), authorize DocuSign, then add the DocuSign eSignature item view to an item and send an envelope. monday's help article says the app needs a DocuSign Business Pro account or higher, or Advanced API.
Part of the guide: monday CRM guide
Key takeaways
- monday.com does not have its own DocuSign connector built into the product. The integration is the DocuSign app in the monday marketplace, installed from the puzzle icon, and it adds a DocuSign eSignature item view and a column to your boards.
- Per monday's help article for the app, it is available to admins on a DocuSign Business Pro account or above, or accounts with Advanced API enabled. The article was last edited September 2, 2025, so check the live page before you buy a plan for this.
- DocuSign's own page says the recommended recipe updates Status, File and Last Updated when an envelope tied to the email changes, and that signed documents and a summary land in the Files column.
- DocuSign's community moderators say monday owns this integration and that they cannot troubleshoot it. Report problems to monday support first and have your DocuSign admin check permissions.
- Zapier, Relay.app and PandaDoc are the main alternatives. Zapier lists 41 DocuSign triggers and 33 DocuSign actions, and many of them are marked as IAM plan only.
Yes, monday.com connects to DocuSign through the DocuSign app in the monday marketplace. Open the marketplace from the puzzle icon at the top right of monday, search for DocuSign, click Install app, pick a workspace and authorize your DocuSign account. Then open an item, add the DocuSign eSignature item view and send an envelope from there. monday’s help article for the app says it is available to admins on a DocuSign Business Pro account or above, or accounts with Advanced API enabled.
Checked on October 21, 2026. We read DocuSign’s blog post on the app, DocuSign’s developer blog on the Workflow Builder connector, Zapier’s DocuSign and monday.com page, and several DocuSign community threads. monday’s own DocuSign app help article blocks ordinary page fetches, so we read it through monday’s public help-center API; it was last edited September 2, 2025. monday’s marketplace listing for the app did not load for us either, so we give no install count, rating or publisher details.
Which DocuSign integration does monday.com have?
monday.com has one DocuSign app in its marketplace, and DocuSign also describes a newer connector that works through DocuSign Workflow Builder. They solve different problems, so pick by what you want to happen on the board.
| Option | What it does | Where you set it up | What the sources say about plans |
|---|---|---|---|
| DocuSign app (monday marketplace) | Adds a DocuSign eSignature item view, plus Status, File and Last Updated columns; you send envelopes from an item | monday marketplace (puzzle icon), then the item’s Updates section and Integrate | monday’s help article, as quoted in search: DocuSign Business Pro or above, or Advanced API |
| DocuSign extension app for Workflow Builder | Creates and updates board items when an agreement is sent and as recipients view, sign or complete; archives signed agreements to the item | DocuSign App Center and Workflow Builder, with monday connected through OAuth | DocuSign’s post gives no plan or pricing |
| Zapier or Relay.app | Rules you build yourself, such as a new monday item sending a DocuSign envelope | The automation tool | Zapier marks many DocuSign events as IAM plan only |
| PandaDoc or GetSign | A different signing product that plugs into monday | The monday marketplace or the vendor | Not checked in detail |

The first row is the one most teams mean when they ask how to connect DocuSign to monday. The second row is for teams that already build flows in DocuSign Workflow Builder, formerly called Maestro, and want boards to update automatically. DocuSign’s developer post says that connector was built by This Dot Labs and shares its monday authorization with the existing DocuSign app in the monday App Store, so you do not manage two connections.
How do I connect DocuSign to monday.com step by step?
Install the app, authorize DocuSign, add the item view to an item, then send an envelope. These steps combine monday’s install path from its help article with the steps in DocuSign’s own blog post.
- In monday, click the puzzle icon at the top right to open the marketplace.
- Search for DocuSign, open it and click Install app. Choose the workspace for the install.
- When prompted, authorize your DocuSign account.
- Refresh the page. DocuSign’s blog says this adds the new column to your interface.
- On the board, click Integrate, search for the app and add it. DocuSign says the app then sends an integration recipe for configuring its settings.
- Set the recipe to: “When an envelope associated with this email is updated, update Status, File, and Last Updated.”
- Open an item, go to Updates, and add the DocuSign eSignature item view.
- Click Start Now or Send Envelope, add the files and recipients, then place signature fields for each signer.
- Send a test envelope to a colleague and confirm the columns change when they open and sign it.
monday’s help article also says to fill in the underlined fields of the template and add it to your board once DocuSign is authorized. That wording and DocuSign’s recipe sentence describe the same recipe.
There is one wrinkle. In a 2023 DocuSign community thread, a user reported that connecting by adding the recipe first failed. The fix they said monday support gave was to close the recipe window, open any item’s Updates section, add the DocuSign item view, and connect through the prompt that appears there. If the recipe route stalls for you, try the item view route. The thread is old, so treat it as a fallback and not as the documented path.
What do I need on the DocuSign and monday.com side before I start?
You need to be able to install apps in monday, and a DocuSign account on a plan the app supports. monday’s help article says the app is “available to admin in DocuSign Business Pro account and above, or to accounts with Advanced API enabled.” The article was last edited on September 2, 2025, so re-read it before you buy a DocuSign plan for this.
DocuSign’s blog post for the app does not state a plan, and neither do we have a figure for what Business Pro costs. We did not check DocuSign pricing for this page, so we give none. Ask your DocuSign admin to confirm which plan the account is on and whether Advanced API is on.
On the monday side, the sources we could read do not name a monday plan for the DocuSign app. If your team is still sorting out seats and limits, our monday CRM plan limits research and pricing explainer cover what each tier includes. A DocuSign community moderator also noted in a July 2024 thread that some features depend on the plan, so the account administrator should confirm what the current plan includes.
What does the DocuSign integration write back to monday.com?
It updates a Status column, a Last Updated column and a Files column on the item. DocuSign’s blog says the Status and Last Updated columns show signing progress and when the last update happened, and that the Files column receives each recipient’s signed documents and an official summary document. DocuSign also says you can populate documents with customer data already in your CRM and that signers can sign from a computer or mobile device.
DocuSign’s blog does not list the exact status labels, so we will not either. If you plan to build automations on the Status column, send a test envelope first and look at which labels appear.
The Workflow Builder connector goes further. DocuSign’s developer post says it can create or update board items when an agreement is sent, reflect changes as recipients view, sign or complete, store the completed agreement on the related item, update different board types and custom columns, and trigger multi-system flows. It generates schemas to match your account’s board structure during authentication. That post gives no plan, pricing or usage limits, and it does not give installation steps.
How do I send a contract from monday CRM?
Open the deal or contact item, add the DocuSign eSignature item view and send from there. Per DocuSign’s blog, you click Start Now or Send Envelope, add files and recipients, and add signature fields to guide signers.
A few practical points follow from the sources:
- The recipe sentence ties the update to “this email,” so the recipient email on the envelope is what links the envelope to the item. If several items share one email, one thread on the monday community forum describes the integration firing on every item with that email. We could not open that thread, so we cannot say what monday answered.
- The DocuSign blog does not mention templates. monday’s help article mentions filling a template’s fields. Whether your Template option appears depends on the DocuSign account. A March 2024 DocuSign community thread describes a user who could not select a Template or upload a document in the app. A DocuSign engineer said it seemed to be a permission issue and asked them to check with their admin. The thread shows no documented fix beyond the user’s own workaround of discarding the temporary envelope.
- If you want contracts built from CRM fields, our monday CRM automation recipes guide shows how column changes can trigger the next step, and the API integration guide covers building your own flow.
Can I automate DocuSign in monday.com with Zapier or Relay.app?
Yes. Zapier’s DocuSign and monday.com page lists the monday triggers and the DocuSign actions you would combine, and a Zapier template described in search results uses a New Item in Board trigger with a Send Envelope Using Template action. Relay.app also has a how-to for automatically sending DocuSign envelopes for new monday items, which we could not open, so we do not describe its steps.
Zapier’s page lists these counts on October 21, 2026:
| DocuSign | monday.com | |
|---|---|---|
| Triggers | 41, including Envelope Sent, Completed, Declined and Voided | 12, including New Item in Board and column-change triggers |
| Actions | 33, including Send Envelope Using Template and Void Envelope | 18, including Create Item, Update Item and Create Update |
| Plan note | Many events are marked for IAM plans only | Not stated |

The pairing that matters for sales teams is a monday column change sending an envelope, and an Envelope Completed event updating the item. Zapier’s page does not list prebuilt zaps for this pair, so you build them yourself. Note that DocuSign’s Find Envelope Form Data query needs the “Allow sender to download form data” setting turned on, per the same page. Every Zapier run uses your Zapier plan’s task allowance, which we did not check.
If you would rather keep the logic inside monday, the Outlook and Gmail guides show the same split between board recipes and email-level tools. The CRM integrations guide compares the options more broadly.
Does monday.com have a built-in e-signature tool instead?
We found no first-party monday e-signature feature documented for monday CRM. Our searches returned signing products from other publishers: DocuSign, PandaDoc, GetSign and others. A community thread titled “No native esigning feature in Monday?” exists, but it returned an error when we opened it, so we cannot report what monday staff said. Check monday’s current marketplace and help center if native signing matters to your buying decision.
PandaDoc says on its integration page that users can eSign documents directly inside monday CRM. We could not load that page for details, so compare PandaDoc’s current plans on its own site if DocuSign pricing is a problem. HighLevel is a different story: our GoHighLevel e-signature FAQ explains what that platform includes, which matters if you are deciding between the two CRMs. The monday CRM review and the CRM guide cover where signing fits in a full sales setup.
DocuSign and monday.com problems, causes and fixes
Most reported problems are about the connection failing or the board not updating. The table lists what the sources we opened actually say, and nothing beyond that.
| What you see | What the source says | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| “Session Not Identified” when connecting (2023 thread) | DocuSign’s moderator said it was likely on monday’s side. One user reported monday support fixed it | Close the recipe window, open an item’s Updates section, add the DocuSign item view, and connect from that prompt |
| Template or Upload Document missing in the item view (March 2024 thread) | A DocuSign engineer said it seemed a permission issue and asked the user to check with their admin | Ask the DocuSign admin to review permissions. The user’s own workaround was to discard the temporary envelope, after which Template appeared |
| Signed documents not uploaded to the board after moving from trial to a paid plan (July 2024 thread) | A DocuSign moderator said monday owns the integration and some features depend on plan. No fix is shown in the thread | Confirm the plan with your DocuSign admin, then raise it with monday support with the envelope ID |
| Status column does not update | Reported on the DocuSign community. No confirmed cause is published in the pages we read | Check the recipe is on and the envelope email matches the item’s email column |
| One envelope updates several items | A monday community thread title describes the integration triggering on all items with the same email. We could not open it | Keep one deal per recipient email, or move to a Zapier flow keyed on the item |
Source: DocuSign Community threads dated 2023 to 2024 and monday community thread titles surfaced in search; checked October 21, 2026. These are user reports, not vendor documentation, and DocuSign’s moderators say monday owns this integration.
The common thread is that neither vendor owns the whole path. DocuSign’s staff point to monday support, and users in the same threads say monday points back. Open one ticket with monday that includes the DocuSign account plan, the exact message, and a screenshot of the recipe, and mention the DocuSign admin has reviewed permissions.
When to bring in help
One admin sending a few envelopes does not need help. Bring someone in when contracts must be built from deal fields, when several teams send from different DocuSign accounts, when board statuses drive invoices or onboarding, or when you are choosing between the marketplace app and the Workflow Builder connector. Our monday.com implementation service covers rollouts like this, our agency CRM page shows a typical setup, and you can contact us to talk through your signing flow.
Founder’s note, Alpit Patel. Contract flows break on the details, usually the email that links the envelope to the item. I’d settle one deal per recipient email before turning the automation on, and confirm the DocuSign plan first. I founded aibrevo in San Francisco in 2021, and through autoesta I have overseen 320+ GoHighLevel implementation projects across med spas, real estate, healthcare, dental, home services, SaaS and professional-services clients in the US, UK and UAE.
