How Do You Cancel Follow Up Boss?
Quick answer
Only the account owner can cancel Follow Up Boss: go to Admin > Billing, click Cancel Subscription, give a reason and confirm. You keep access until the billing period ends unless you delete the account immediately. Export contacts, remove API keys and archive lead sources first.
Key takeaways
- Only the account owner can cancel. Go to Admin > Billing, click Cancel Subscription (lower right), choose your reason, click Leave Follow Up Boss and read the confirmation. The card is not charged again, and access continues until the billing cycle ends (checked Oct 22, 2026).
- Deleting early is a separate choice: Admin > Billing > Delete your Follow Up Boss Account Immediately removes access for you and every team member right away.
- Before cancelling, Follow Up Boss recommends exporting contacts, removing all API keys and archiving and ignoring lead sources so new leads stop flowing in. Emails and call recordings cannot be exported, so decide what that costs you.
- To change your mind, Admin > Billing > Reactivate Your Subscription works until the subscription expires. Pricing page terms at the time of writing: 14-day free trial, no contracts, cancel any time.
- The pages we read do not state a refund policy, so ask Follow Up Boss before assuming unused annual time comes back.
To cancel Follow Up Boss, the account owner opens Admin > Billing, clicks Cancel Subscription, gives a reason and clicks Leave Follow Up Boss. The card is not charged again, and the account stays usable until the end of the current billing cycle. Export your contacts, remove API keys and archive lead sources before you do it.

How do you cancel Follow Up Boss step by step?
Follow Follow Up Boss’s cancel article (last updated Dec 3, 2024) from the owner’s login.
- Go to Admin > Billing.
- Click Cancel Subscription. The Billing Management article places the button in the lower right-hand side of the billing page.
- Select your cancellation reason or reasons and provide feedback, then click Leave Follow Up Boss.
- Read the confirmation screen. Your credit card will not be charged automatically again. You can keep using Follow Up Boss until the billing cycle ends and the subscription expires, or you can delete the account immediately.
The Billing Management article adds that the system defaults to cancelling at the end of the payment period. If you want to cancel immediately instead, select Cancel Account Immediately on the billing page after cancelling.
What is the difference between cancelling and deleting a Follow Up Boss account?
Cancelling stops billing and leaves access running to the end of the cycle. Deleting removes access at once.
| Cancel Subscription | Delete your Follow Up Boss Account Immediately | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | Admin > Billing | Admin > Billing (after cancelling) |
| Future charges | Stop, card not charged again | Stop |
| Your access | Until the current billing cycle ends | Ends immediately for you and every team member |
| Can you undo it | Yes, Reactivate Your Subscription before it expires | The articles do not describe a way back |
| Who can do it | Account owner | Account owner |

Unless you must remove access today, choose the default. You get the rest of the period you paid for, and you can still reach the data to finish an export.
What should you do before cancelling Follow Up Boss?
Follow Up Boss lists three things, and a fourth is worth adding.
- Export your contacts. Use People > All People, select everyone and export with Export All Columns ticked. Steps and limits are in how to export contacts from Follow Up Boss.
- Remove all API keys. Follow Up Boss says removing every API key generated in the account immediately stops API activity.
- Archive and ignore lead sources. This stops new leads from flowing into the account after you leave.
- Check what the export cannot carry. Emails and call recordings cannot be exported, and exported calls, texts and notes are capped at the most recent 50 per contact. If call recordings matter for compliance or training, find out first how Follow Up Boss will treat them after cancellation. The articles we read do not say.
Then point your lead forms, ad campaigns and portal feeds at the new system, so nothing lands in a dead account. The common destinations are covered in GoHighLevel for real estate and HubSpot for real estate teams, and the CRM migration guide has the full order of work.
Can you get a refund, and is there a contract?
The help articles do not state a refund policy, so assume nothing. They say billing stops when you cancel and that you keep access to the end of the billing cycle. The pricing page, at the time of writing, says “14-day free trial, easy migration, no contracts” and “cancel any time”. It lists no cancellation fee.
Two related facts from the Billing Management article change what you pay up to the end. Moving between monthly and annual billing resets the billing date to the date of the change and prorates unused time. And the calling add-on is charged per user on the Grow plan, but included on Pro and Platform, with billing starting after a two-week calling trial.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing (per month) | Included users | Extra users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grow | $69 per user | $58 per user | per-user pricing | n/a |
| Pro | $499 | $416 | 10 | $49 monthly, $41 annual |
| Platform | $1,000 | $833 | 30 | $20 monthly, $17 annual |
Source: followupboss.com/pricing, at the time of writing, checked Oct 22, 2026. Prices exclude tax. Calling is a per-user add-on on Grow ($39 monthly, $33 annual per user) and included on Pro and Platform.
How do you reactivate Follow Up Boss after cancelling?
Go to Admin > Billing > Reactivate Your Subscription before the subscription expires. That is the only reactivation route the help center describes. After expiry, or after choosing immediate deletion, the articles say nothing about recovery, so assume the account and data are gone and rely on your export.
How do you move off Follow Up Boss without losing leads?
Overlap the two systems for a short period. Import your exported contacts into the new CRM, switch lead sources one at a time, and only then cancel. Our CRM data cleaning guide covers the de-duplication that makes the new import clean, and the CRM pricing comparison shows what general-purpose CRMs cost per seat.
When to get help
Cancelling is a five-minute job. The risk is what leaves with you: lead routing rules, text consent records, call history and the integrations that feed the account. Get help when you are rebuilding lead capture, speed-to-lead texting and agent routing in a new system before the billing cycle ends. aibrevo implements Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, monday.com, Airtable and GoHighLevel, and quotes Follow Up Boss work per project, so migration into one of those eight is the usual request. You can book a short call or send a message, and the HubSpot service page and GoHighLevel service page describe the common targets.
