Follow Up Boss vs GoHighLevel: Cost per Agent, Fit and Switching
Follow Up Boss vs GoHighLevel for a real estate team: Follow Up Boss wins on day-one lead sources and routing, GoHighLevel wins on flat pricing, funnels and automation. The cheapest Follow Up Boss plan with calling for 10 agents is $416 a month on annual billing, against about $81 a month for GoHighLevel Starter before usage.
Key takeaways
- Follow Up Boss lists Grow at $69 per user a month ($58 billed yearly), Pro at $499 a month with 10 users ($416 yearly) and Platform at $1,000 with 30 users ($833 yearly); Grow calling is a $39 per user add-on ($33 yearly) (followupboss.com/pricing, checked Oct 22, 2026).
- On annual billing, a 10-agent team with calling and texting costs $416 a month on Follow Up Boss Pro, against $910 on Grow with the calling add-on, and about $81 a month for GoHighLevel Starter ($970 a year) before usage.
- Pro stops being the cheapest Follow Up Boss option at 21 agents: Pro costs $416 plus $41 per extra user, which passes Platform's $833 at 21 users.
- Follow Up Boss says it connects to 250+ lead sources and integrations and charges nothing extra for AI features; GoHighLevel has no native MLS or IDX listing feed, so portal lead capture is built with webhooks, email parsing or Zapier.
- A GoHighLevel team using 3,000 text segments and 1,500 call minutes a month adds roughly $61 in usage (illustrative, at $0.012 per segment and $0.0166 per minute), which still leaves it far below the Follow Up Boss Pro fee at 10 agents.
Follow Up Boss Pro costs $416 a month on annual billing for up to 10 agents with calling and texting included, while GoHighLevel Starter costs about $81 a month with no user limit, plus usage. The gap is large, but the cheaper product is not automatically the better one for a real estate team. Follow Up Boss ships lead sources, distribution and agent accountability ready to use; GoHighLevel ships a blank toolkit that is cheaper and wider but takes building.
Our GoHighLevel for real estate agents page gives the general fit and a plan-fee chart by team size. This page adds what that page does not: the cost curve with the calling add-on, where Follow Up Boss changes plans, a symptom-based decision, how to run both, and the switch.
Follow Up Boss vs GoHighLevel: which should a real estate team choose?
Choose Follow Up Boss if your leads come from portals and lead vendors, agents need fast calling and texting, and a team lead needs routing and accountability from day one. Choose GoHighLevel if you also want ad funnels, a website, calendars, review requests and automation in the same account, you have more than a handful of users, and someone will own the build.
When does each one win?
| What you see in the team | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Portal leads sit unanswered for hours | Follow Up Boss | Lead sources, distribution and a built-in dialer are the product |
| Agents each have their own funnel and landing page | GoHighLevel | Funnels, forms and sites are core, not an add-on |
| 10 to 30 agents, tight budget | GoHighLevel on price | No per-user fee; Follow Up Boss Pro and Platform bundle 10 and 30 users |
| Team lead wants leaderboards and call reporting | Follow Up Boss | Reporting and team leaderboard are listed features |
| You already have a website and IDX and want nothing else | Follow Up Boss | Less to build, less to maintain |
| You sell the system to other agents or brokerages | GoHighLevel | Agency plans have sub-accounts, rebilling and SaaS Mode |
| One owner can configure workflows, texting registration and a lead-source build | GoHighLevel | The build is a one-time cost |
| Nobody on the team wants to maintain automation | Follow Up Boss | Opinionated defaults |
How much do Follow Up Boss and GoHighLevel cost per agent?
Follow Up Boss charges per user on Grow and bundles users into Pro and Platform. GoHighLevel charges a flat plan fee and meters texting, calls and email. Prices below are from each vendor’s page, checked Oct 22, 2026.
| Follow Up Boss plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing (per month) | Users included | Extra user (monthly or annual) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grow | $69 per user | $58 per user | Per user | Not applicable |
| Pro | $499 | $416 | 10 | $49 or $41 |
| Platform | $1,000 | $833 | 30 | $20 or $17 |
| Grow calling add-on | $39 per user | $33 per user | n/a | Pro and Platform include unlimited calling and texting |
GoHighLevel Starter is $97 a month or $970 a year (about $81 a month) with unlimited users and contacts, per its pricing page.
What does it cost at 1, 5, 10, 20 and 30 agents?
All figures are monthly, on annual billing, using the Follow Up Boss page’s yearly prices and GoHighLevel’s $970 a year. The “with calling” column assumes every agent needs calling and texting, so it picks the cheaper of Grow plus the add-on, Pro or Platform.
| Agents | Grow, no calling | Cheapest with calling and texting | GoHighLevel Starter (plan fee) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | $58 | $91 (Grow + calling) | $81 |
| 5 | $290 | $416 (Pro) | $81 |
| 10 | $580 | $416 (Pro) | $81 |
| 20 | $1,160 | $826 (Pro + 10 x $41) | $81 |
| 30 | $1,740 | $833 (Platform) | $81 |
Pro is the cheapest way to give every agent calling from 5 agents (5 x $91 = $455, above $416). Platform becomes cheaper than Pro at 21 agents, because $416 + 11 x $41 = $867 passes $833.
What does GoHighLevel add on top of the plan fee?
Usage. Texting is $0.00747 per segment plus a carrier fee, outbound calls are $0.0166 a minute and email is $0.675 per 1,000 sends, as recorded on our usage rates page. As an illustration, 3,000 text segments at a rounded $0.012 and 1,500 outbound minutes cost about $36 plus $25, roughly $61 a month. That figure is not a benchmark for your team, but it shows why a 10-agent team can still land well under Follow Up Boss Pro. Setup is the bigger cost: a GoHighLevel build for real estate is a project, covered on our setup for real estate page.
What does Follow Up Boss do that GoHighLevel does not?
Follow Up Boss’s home page says it integrates with “over 250+ lead sources, website providers, and more” and lists lead flow, lead distribution, Smart Lists, an integrated dialer, texting, a team inbox, deal tracking, reporting and a team leaderboard (all vendor claims, checked Oct 22, 2026). Its pricing page adds smart summaries, smart messages and predictive lead prioritization on Pro and Platform, and says there is no additional charge for AI features. Our older real estate page says “200-plus” lead sources; the vendor’s current wording is 250+.
GoHighLevel does the rest of the marketing stack: funnels, websites, forms, surveys, calendars, email, SMS and workflows with branching, tags and webhooks. It does not ship real estate pipelines, an MLS or IDX feed, or a ready lead-source library. Portal leads reach it through email parsing, webhooks or Zapier, which works but has to be built and tested per source. The wiring is described in our real estate lead automation guide. HubSpot and monday sit between the two on flexibility; see HubSpot for real estate and monday CRM for real estate if you are comparing three.
Can you run Follow Up Boss and GoHighLevel together?
Yes, and for teams with both portal leads and ad funnels it can be the sensible split. Follow Up Boss stays the agents’ working system for calls, texts and lead routing. GoHighLevel runs ad funnels, landing pages, nurture campaigns and reviews, and passes new leads across by Zapier. The cost is two subscriptions and a duplicate-contact risk.
The rule that keeps this working is one source of truth per contact. Decide which system owns a lead once an agent touches it, sync only the fields both need, and stop automations in the other system when ownership moves. Our setup guide lists the questions to settle first.
What does switching from Follow Up Boss to GoHighLevel involve?
Contacts, notes, tags and tasks move by export and import, and the behavior does not. Action plans, lead distribution, Smart Lists and call logs do not convert, so each has to be designed again as workflows, round robin assignment, saved filters and tags. Texting numbers need A2P 10DLC registration before messages deliver reliably, which adds review time.
An agent or team with years of clean history in Follow Up Boss should switch for a specific gap, not for a feature list. Run both in parallel, move one lead source at a time, and keep Follow Up Boss read-only until the new pipeline has produced a month of normal activity. The same logic applies to other directions; see the HubSpot to GoHighLevel migration guide for the general sequence.
When to get help
The hard part is not buying either tool. It is the lead-source build and the first week of follow-up rules: speed-to-lead, routing between agents, and consent for texting. aibrevo implements GoHighLevel; Follow Up Boss is not one of the platforms it implements, so work on that side is quoted per project. Book a short call or send a message, and see the GoHighLevel service page. At the time of writing, aibrevo’s published GoHighLevel build prices are CRM setup from $1,499 to $4,999 and white-label SaaS from $3,999 to $6,999.
