Key takeaways

  • AI Studio left Labs and became generally available in the week of September 21, with user-permission controls.
  • The AI Agency Assistant plan costs $20 per agency user a month, covers Ask AI and AI Studio across sub-accounts, and is only on the $297 and $497 plans.
  • Companies are now created automatically from contacts' email domains, and company and custom-object smart lists can be copied in snapshots.
  • Mexico local numbers can no longer send SMS because of a carrier migration. Voice and WhatsApp still work.
  • HighLevel appointed Sterling Auty as chief financial officer on September 28.

HighLevel shipped a long list of changes in September 2026, most of them AI features. This post picks out the ones that change how you run GoHighLevel as a CRM: who can use AI and what it costs, how company records and smart lists behave, and one phone change that affects anyone with Mexico numbers. Each item links to HighLevel’s own changelog or Release Radar post.

Companies created from email domains

Per the Release Radar for the week of September 14, HighLevel can now create company records automatically from the domain in a contact’s email address. For B2B pipelines this saves a lot of manual linking: three contacts at the same firm end up under one company.

Check two things before relying on it. First, how it treats free email domains such as gmail.com, so consumer contacts are not grouped into one fake company. Second, what happens on a large CSV import, where a single bad domain column can create hundreds of companies. Test on a small import first.

Smart lists in snapshots

HighLevel’s September 29 changelog says company and custom-object smart lists can now be included in snapshots. Agencies that deliver the same CRM build to many clients no longer have to rebuild saved segments by hand in each sub-account. If you sell or reuse a standard setup, update your master snapshot to include them. Our guide to GoHighLevel snapshots covers what a snapshot does and does not copy.

AI Studio and the AI Agency Assistant plan

AI Studio, HighLevel’s builder for AI apps and agents, left Labs and became generally available in the week of September 21, with permission controls for which users can use it.

The AI Agency Assistant plan (help article modified September 24) charges $20 per agency user a month and covers Ask AI and AI Studio in every sub-account that user works in. It is only available on the $297 Unlimited and $497 Agency Pro plans, and agencies cannot resell it to clients. For an agency with five team members using AI daily, that is $100 a month on top of the plan.

Turn on the new permission controls before rolling AI Studio out. An AI agent with write access to a CRM can change contact records and send messages, so limit who can build and publish one.

Workflows that build and run AI agents

From the week of September 14, workflows can run Managed Agents, and Ask AI can draft a workflow from a plain-language prompt. On September 23 HighLevel replaced GPT-5.6 with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna in the workflow AI Agent and GPT actions, which its changelog says are 50% cheaper.

If you have workflows using AI actions, open them and confirm they still behave as expected on the new models, especially anything that classifies leads or writes replies. A model change can shift outputs even when the prompt stays the same. AI usage is billed through the wallet; the GoHighLevel pricing calculator covers the plan and messaging side of the bill.

Mexico local numbers lose SMS

HighLevel’s September 29 changelog says Mexico fixed-line numbers now show “SMS unavailable” because of an upstream carrier migration. Voice and WhatsApp still work. Any workflow that texts from a Mexico local number will fail. Move those messages to WhatsApp or to a number type that supports SMS, and check your workflow error logs for failed sends since late September.

Also in September

  • Calendar AI can explain why a slot is not available, and the mobile app can create reschedule links (week of September 21).
  • Local presence dialing picks the caller ID by postcode in the US, Canada, UK and Australia (week of September 14).
  • Voice AI added a speech-to-speech model and outbound calling for speech-to-speech agents (week of September 7). Outbound AI calling has consent rules; check them before switching it on.
  • Ask AI Voice arrived in the mobile app (September 25).
  • Leadership: HighLevel appointed Sterling Auty as CFO on September 28.
