Is Vtiger CRM Free?
Quick answer
Yes, in two forms. Vtiger One Pilot is a free cloud plan with no time limit, capped at 10 users, 3,000 records and 3 GB. The self-hosted Open Source Edition (version 8.4.0, July 2025) is free to use, though Vtiger itself warns that open source is not free of hosting, maintenance and upgrade costs.
Key takeaways
- Vtiger's pricing page lists One Pilot as a free plan with no time limit: 10 users, 3,000 records and 3 GB of storage. Paid cloud plans start with One Growth at 15 users and 100,000 records.
- The Open Source Edition is separate and self-hosted. The download page lists version 8.4.0, dated July 9, 2025, as the stable release, and the license is the Vtiger Public License 1.1.
- Vtiger's own community page warns that Open source CRM is not free because hosting, maintenance, support and upgrades carry costs, and says the open source edition is not the same as the cloud free edition.
- Paid plans have a free trial: the pricing page mentions 15 days without a credit card. Annual billing saves up to 34 percent against monthly, per Vtiger.
- Paid prices on Vtiger's pricing page are regional, and in rupees on the copy we could read, so the table below labels them as shown there rather than as US prices.
Vtiger CRM is free in two different forms. Vtiger One Pilot is a free cloud plan with no time limit and no credit card, capped at 10 users, 3,000 records and 3 GB of storage. The Open Source Edition is a self-hosted download, currently version 8.4.0 from July 9, 2025, that costs nothing to use but needs your own server, upgrades and support. Vtiger itself says “Open source CRM is not free!” for that reason. All figures come from Vtiger’s pricing, download and community pages, checked on October 22, 2026.
Is Vtiger CRM free?
Yes, but “free” names two products with different trade-offs.
| One Pilot (cloud) | Open Source Edition (self-hosted) | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, no time limit | No license fee |
| Hosting | Vtiger | You |
| Caps | 10 users, 3,000 records, 3 GB | None stated on the pages we read |
| Support | Not stated on the pricing page | Community forums and documentation, paid partners |
| Upgrades | Handled by Vtiger | You apply them (8.4.0 is the stable release) |
| Best for | A small team trying a hosted CRM | A technical team that wants the code and its own server |

What are the limits of the free Vtiger plan?
Vtiger’s pricing page lists the limits for One Pilot, which it describes as a “Forever Free Account”: 10 users, 3,000 records and 3 GB of storage. The next plan up, One Growth, lists 15 users and 100,000 records.
Booster Packs are described as add-ons for raising feature limits, with no prices on the page. The page does not say what happens when you hit the 3,000-record cap, so treat it as a hard planning number and compare it with the size of your contact list before you start. If you plan to load an existing list, see how to import data into Vtiger from Excel.
Is the Vtiger open source edition free?
The software is free to use, but Vtiger does not call it free of cost. Its community page describes the Open Source Edition as a complete on-premise CRM that avoids expensive commercial licenses, then says “Open source CRM is not free!” because hosting, maintenance, support and upgrades cost money.
Other facts from Vtiger’s pages:
- Version. The download page lists 8.4.0 as the “Stable Version”, dated July 9, 2025, with PHP 8.x support. Downloads are hosted on SourceForge.
- License. The community page names the Vtiger Public License 1.1, based on the Mozilla Public License 1.1, with a “file-level copy-left philosophy”. It says Vtiger’s changes to SugarCRM code fall under this license.
- Support. It comes mainly from a community of users and developers, with forums, documentation and partners for installation, custom development and training. Vtiger promotes a paid program, VAssure, for businesses that want guaranteed support and security.
- Not the same as the free cloud plan. The page says the open source edition “is not the same as a cloud-free edition” and recommends One Pilot for a free hosted option.
The download page recommends running the latest release “for security reasons”, which is the point where self-hosting costs time: you own the upgrade schedule.
What does Vtiger cost after the free plan?
Paid cloud plans are billed per user per month. The prices Vtiger’s pricing page showed to us were in rupees, so they are listed here as displayed, not converted.
| Plan | Standard user, per month, billed annually (Rs, as shown) | Limits listed |

Paid plans offer a free trial without a credit card, and the page header mentions 15 days. For a comparison with other platforms’ free tiers, see does Pipedrive have a free plan, is Odoo CRM really free and the CRM pricing comparison.
Which Vtiger option fits you?
The choice follows one question: who will run the server.
- No one wants to. Take One Pilot while you fit within 10 users and 3,000 records, then a paid plan.
- You have a developer and want control. The Open Source Edition gives you the code. Budget for hosting, security patches and upgrades from 8.4.0 onward.
- You are unsure. Start a paid-plan trial, which needs no credit card, and keep an export of your data. Vtiger exports records as CSV from a module’s list view, and Excel is not an export format: select the records, choose Export, and pick selected records, the current page or all data.

When to get help
A free CRM is cheapest when you leave it alone, and most expensive when you outgrow it with messy data. Help pays off when you are choosing between Vtiger and a paid CRM, hardening a self-hosted install, or moving off Vtiger. Vtiger is quoted per project and aibrevo does not implement it. Migrating Vtiger data into Salesforce, HubSpot, Dynamics 365, Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, monday.com, Airtable or GoHighLevel is a common request. Book a short call or send a message, and see the CRM migration guide and the HubSpot service page for what a move involves.
