Key takeaways

  • HighLevel's Voice AI agent answers inbound calls, books appointments on a connected calendar, transfers to a human number or another agent, and can also place outbound calls.
  • Pay-per-use: $0.045 a minute voice engine (effective May 20, 2026) plus $0.015 a minute for OpenAI or Cartesia text-to-speech, plus LLM tokens and phone charges. HighLevel's example is $0.60 for a 10-minute call before tokens and phone charges.
  • Flat plans per enabled sub-account: AI Employee Growth $50 a month with 100 minutes, Unlimited $97 a month with unlimited minutes under fair use. Phone System charges are separate on every plan.
  • HighLevel does not check consent before outbound Voice AI calls. That is the business's job, and calls run only between 8 AM and 8 PM in the contact's time zone.
  • AI voices count as artificial voices under the federal TCPA (FCC ruling of February 8, 2024), and recording notice rules vary by state.

Yes. HighLevel’s AI receptionist is called Voice AI: an agent you build inside the platform that answers inbound calls, books appointments on a connected calendar and transfers to a person when needed. On pay-per-use it costs roughly $0.06 a minute before AI model tokens and phone charges, or a flat $50 or $97 a month per sub-account. The legal side matters as much as the price: HighLevel leaves consent to you.

Checked on October 12, 2026 against HighLevel’s AI product pricing, AI Employee, Voice AI agent and outbound compliance help articles, plus the FCC’s ruling on AI voices. Most of those articles carry no date, and HighLevel changes AI rates often, so confirm in your account before you quote anyone.

What does the GoHighLevel AI receptionist actually do?

HighLevel’s Voice AI agent guide lists these capabilities:

  • Answers inbound calls on an eligible LC Phone number, Twilio number or number pool.
  • Books appointments through an Appointment Booking action that offers availability and schedules, using a connected HighLevel calendar.
  • Transfers calls. Call Transfer sends the caller to a human number. Agent Transfer hands off to another Voice AI agent.
  • Runs outbound calls with the same agent, subject to approval and compliance setup.
  • Follows a deploy checklist: assign a number, choose direct or backup routing, set working hours (all hours or a custom schedule) and review the call flow.

Limits to know: Call Transfer does not run in a web-call test, so test with a real phone. “Assigning a number does not guarantee that the agent will answer every call,” because working hours, routing mode, forwarding and voicemail settings all affect it. The article does not list supported languages beyond a language setting, and it does not state plan or A2P requirements. For how it compares with text-based AI, see our Conversation AI guide, and for competing voice tools see the voice agent platform comparison.

How much does Voice AI cost per minute?

HighLevel’s AI product pricing article builds the pay-per-use price from parts. The formula it gives is: call minutes times (voice engine plus text-to-speech), plus LLM token cost, plus Phone System charges.

Component Published rate Effective
Voice engine $0.045 per minute May 20, 2026
Text-to-speech, OpenAI or Cartesia $0.015 per minute April 20, 2026
Text-to-speech, ElevenLabs V2.5 $0.035 per minute May 20, 2026
Text-to-speech, ElevenLabs V3 $0.170 per minute April 20, 2026
Speech-to-speech, Google Gemini live preview $0.10 per minute, all-in listed
Speech-to-speech, OpenAI realtime $0.20 per minute, all-in listed
LLM tokens per million tokens, by model (for example GPT-4o Mini $0.15, GPT-5 $1.25) listed
Phone System charges separate, see LC Phone rates every plan

HighLevel’s own example: a 10-minute call with OpenAI text-to-speech costs $0.60 before LLM tokens and phone charges ($0.45 engine plus $0.15 text-to-speech). Some third-party pages quote a flat $0.13 a minute or an average near $0.16. Those do not match the component pricing in HighLevel’s article as we read it today (older versions of the page may have used bundled rates), so we did not use them. Agencies that rebill Voice AI to clients need the $497 a month plan; see HighLevel’s AI Employee article.

Which is cheaper: pay-per-use or a flat plan?

Do the arithmetic with your own minutes. The figures below are illustrative and use only the floor of $0.06 a minute (engine plus OpenAI text-to-speech), so real pay-per-use costs are higher once tokens and phone charges are added.

Monthly call minutes Pay-per-use floor ($0.06 a minute) Growth ($50, 100 minutes included) Unlimited ($97)
100 $6 $50 $97
500 $30 $50 plus overage at pay-per-use rates on 400 minutes $97
1,617 $97 more than $97 $97

Reading it: below roughly 1,600 minutes a month, pay-per-use beats the $97 plan on the floor price alone. Tokens push the true crossover lower. Check your usage history for your real all-in cost per minute, then compare it to the flat fee. The flat plans also carry exclusions: one reading of HighLevel’s pricing article listed Agent Studio, the Voice AI widget and outbound services as billed at pay-per-use rates even on Unlimited, while another copy did not repeat it, so confirm in your account. Phone System charges are separate either way.

What are the outbound calling limits?

Outbound Voice AI is stricter than inbound. HighLevel’s compliance checks article states:

  • Calls run through a workflow action, from an eligible agent and from number, after the location accepts the outbound terms and completes any verification (KYC) required.
  • Up to 10 calls per minute and 5,000 per day for each location. Calls above the daily limit move to the next eligible day.
  • Each phone number can be called once a day and up to 14 times in 14 days.
  • Calling window: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the phone number’s time zone.

HighLevel is direct: “HighLevel does not perform platform-level contact consent validation before placing outbound Voice AI calls,” and “Do not rely on the workflow terms checkbox as contact consent.” Opt-outs and DND must still be honored. The same article suggests consent language that says whether calls may be automated, prerecorded or use an AI voice, who is calling and how to opt out.

Federal law backs that up. In a February 8, 2024 declaratory ruling, the FCC held that calls made with AI-generated voices are artificial voices under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, which generally requires the called party’s prior express consent. Pair that with A2P registration for your texts, covered in our A2P approval timeline.

Recording is a separate rule. HighLevel’s phone configuration article describes the Play Call Recording Message setting, with an example notice “This call will be recorded for quality purposes,” and says that “In many U.S. states, playing a recording disclaimer is legally required.” Which states, and what wording, is covered in is it legal to record calls in GoHighLevel and our research on texting and call recording laws by state. This is general information, not legal advice.

FAQs

Does GoHighLevel have an AI receptionist?

Yes. It is called Voice AI. An agent you build in HighLevel answers inbound calls on an LC Phone number, Twilio number or number pool, books appointments on a connected HighLevel calendar and transfers to a human or another agent. The same agent can also run outbound calls.

How much does GoHighLevel Voice AI cost per minute?

On pay-per-use, HighLevel lists a $0.045 a minute voice engine charge plus text-to-speech, such as $0.015 a minute for OpenAI or Cartesia, plus LLM token costs and phone charges. That is about $0.06 a minute before tokens. Prices change, so confirm in the app before quoting a client.

Is there a flat monthly price for Voice AI?

Yes. AI Employee Growth is $50 a month per enabled sub-account with 100 AI agent minutes, and Unlimited is $97 a month per enabled sub-account with unlimited minutes under fair use. Phone System charges still apply. Rebilling AI usage to clients needs the $497 a month agency plan.

Can GoHighLevel Voice AI transfer calls to a person?

Yes. Call Transfer sends the caller to a human phone number, and Agent Transfer hands the conversation to another Voice AI agent. Transfer does not run in a web-call test, so test it with a real phone call. Working hours and routing settings decide when the agent answers.

Can Voice AI book appointments in GoHighLevel?

Yes. The Appointment Booking action offers availability and schedules an appointment, and it needs a connected HighLevel calendar. Set the calendar's availability and buffers first, and test a full booking before you send the number to customers.

Do I need consent before Voice AI calls my leads?

Yes, and HighLevel says it is on you. Its compliance article states the platform does not validate contact consent before outbound Voice AI calls, and that the workflow terms checkbox is not consent. The FCC treats AI-generated voices as artificial voices under the TCPA, which generally calls for prior express consent.

Do I have to tell callers the call is recorded or that it is AI?

Often yes. HighLevel's Play Call Recording Message plays a notice and its article says that in many US states a recording disclaimer is legally required. For outbound AI calls HighLevel suggests consent language covering automated or AI voice use. Rules differ by state, so get legal advice for your states.

Is GoHighLevel Voice AI better than a dedicated AI receptionist service?

It depends on whether you want the calls inside your CRM. Voice AI books into your calendar and logs to the contact record, but you build and tune the agent yourself. Dedicated services sell a managed setup. Our voice platform comparison lists the trade-offs.
