GoHighLevel A2P Registration: Step-by-Step Walkthrough
GoHighLevel A2P registration starts in Settings, Phone System, Trust Center, register a Brand with details that match your IRS records, then create a Campaign that describes your messages and shows how people opt in. On LC Phone the first registration bundle costs $22.50 or $64 one-time, plus a monthly campaign fee of $1.50 to $10.
Part of the guide: GoHighLevel compliance
Key takeaways
- The path is Settings, Phone System, Trust Center, then the A2P Messaging (SMS) card. The Brand is registered first and must be approved before the Campaign (HighLevel help center, checked 2026-10-13).
- HighLevel's fee article lists $22.50 one-time for Sole Proprietor and Low Volume Standard brands and $64 for High Volume Standard, plus a monthly campaign fee of $1.50 to $10 by use case. Prices are set by outside providers and can change, so confirm in the Trust Center before you submit.
- Most rejections are consent or identity problems. The legal name must match IRS records, and the opt-in must be a separate, unchecked SMS checkbox with the disclosures next to it.
- A toll-free number does not use A2P 10DLC registration at all. It has its own verification process, covered in our toll-free FAQ.
Registering for A2P 10DLC in GoHighLevel takes about an hour of your time and a few days to weeks of waiting. You do two things in order: register a Brand (who you are) and then a Campaign (what you text and how people agreed to it). The work happens in Settings > Phone System > Trust Center. This page is the walkthrough. If you already have a rejection, go to why A2P registrations get rejected; if you are waiting, see how long approval takes.
Checked on 2026-10-13 against HighLevel’s help center (articles listed under Sources). Menus and fees change, so each step below says what to look for as well as where to click. This is part of the GoHighLevel compliance guide, which also covers consent, quiet hours, email and HIPAA.
Do I need A2P 10DLC registration at all?
Yes, if you send business texts to US numbers from a standard 10-digit local number. HighLevel’s registration article says registration “is required when a business sends SMS or MMS messages to U.S. recipients” from standard 10-digit local numbers, with separate rules for Canadian numbers. Toll-free numbers do not use it: HighLevel says they follow a separate verification process, and our toll-free FAQ covers that wait.
Unregistered traffic is filtered or blocked by carriers. If texts from a new number never arrive, registration is the first thing to check, then the SMS error codes. The same registration also gates features that text for you, such as missed call text back.
What should I have ready before I start?
Have six things open before you click anything. HighLevel’s “Before You Start” checklist names the legal business name, registration number or Tax ID, address, authorized contact, a live website, the messaging purpose and the consent details.
| Item | What reviewers compare it against | Common slip |
|---|---|---|
| Legal business name and EIN | IRS records; the CP 575 letter shows both. HighLevel says uploading it can fill the fields | Using a trade name or a typo in the name |
| Address and contact | The registration record | A personal email address (HighLevel’s rejection guide lists it under business identity) |
| Public website | The site must be live and reachable; HighLevel says carriers verify the business through it | A site behind a login or under construction |
| Privacy Policy and Terms | They must be public and linked from the opt-in flow or site | Policy that does not say mobile information is not shared with third parties for marketing |
| Opt-in method | A form URL, or a hosted image or link if the opt-in is not public | A form where the SMS box is bundled into mandatory terms |
| Use case and sample messages | Must agree with the opt-in language and the website | Samples that are identical or promise things the opt-in does not |
HighLevel’s article says the website, Privacy Policy, Terms and opt-in checkbox must all show a business name that matches the legal name and DBA. If you trade under a different name from your EIN record, it suggests adding a sentence to the use case such as “We are doing DBA as [Business_Name]”. One EIN can register up to 10 brands.
HighLevel’s registration article does not list a Business Profile as a requirement; some older guides still do. Fill the profile in for other reasons (the default email unsubscribe toggle lives there, see the email compliance guide), but do not wait on it.
How do I register the Brand in the Trust Center?
Go to Settings > Phone System > Trust Center, find the A2P Messaging (SMS) card and start registration. Choose the Brand path, enter the details exactly as they appear in official records, and submit. The Brand must be approved before you can register a Campaign.
- Open Settings > Phone System > Trust Center.
- On the A2P Messaging (SMS) card, start registration.
- Pick the brand path:
- Standard Brand if you have an EIN, Tax ID, Business Number or another accepted registration number.
- Sole Proprietor Brand only for an individual or very small business with one employee and no such number. HighLevel says a business with a Tax ID should register as Standard.
- Enter the legal name, number and address exactly as on the official record. HighLevel says a newly issued EIN may take time to appear in verification systems; our approval-time page gives the 15-day rule of thumb from HighLevel’s documentation.
- Choose the volume tier. HighLevel’s fee article lists the limits below.
| Brand type | Number limit | Daily limit (SMS segments) | One-time bundle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sole Proprietor | 1 number | 3,000 | $22.50 |
| Low Volume Standard | Multiple numbers | 6,000 | $22.50 |
| High Volume Standard | Multiple numbers | 600,000 | $64.00 |
Source: HighLevel help center, A2P 10DLC messaging fees article, checked 2026-10-13. The bundle covers brand registration, campaign vetting and a $3 Fast Track fee. The article does not list the brand fee separately.
How to confirm it worked: the Brand shows as approved in Brand & Campaigns before the Campaign can proceed. If you chose a tier by volume, remember segments, not messages, count toward the daily limit; the SMS segment counter shows how long texts split.
How do I create the Campaign?
After the Brand is approved, open Trust Center > Brand & Campaigns, use the Campaigns tab and select Create Campaign, choosing your Brand. Check the Campaigns tab for an existing entry before creating a new one. Do not create a new campaign or resubmit while one is Pending.
The Campaign form has four parts that reviewers cross-check.
- Messaging volume option. Pick the one that matches the Brand tier.
- Setup method.
- Chat Widget Setup offers Marketing / Promotional, Informational / Non-Marketing, and Mixed. HighLevel says the widget should be the only SMS consent form on the page, so do not use it on a page that also has a contact, lead-capture or appointment form collecting SMS opt-in. With Mixed there are two separate, unchecked consent boxes.
- Manual Setup is for forms, funnels and everything else. It needs a use case description covering who sends, who receives, what is sent and how contacts opt in.
- Use case. HighLevel’s guide says choosing Mixed sets the use case to Low Volume Mixed. Pick the narrowest honest description. A campaign that says appointment reminders but samples that read like promotions is a classic rejection.
- Sample messages and opt-in proof (next sections).
Then run the compliance review. HighLevel says you cannot submit until the AI compliance checks pass; fix what it flags and use Review Again.
What do sample messages need?
Two samples at minimum, different from each other, that read like what you will actually send. HighLevel’s guidance and its rejection guide together say:
- Identify the sender. Include your business name in at least one message.
- Match the selected use case. Include one promotional and one transactional or informational sample for a mixed campaign.
- Include opt-out language (for example “Reply STOP to opt out”) in at least one message.
- Mark variables in brackets, such as [First Name], and do not include live custom fields or values.
- Use full HTTPS links. Public URL shorteners are rejected.
- Keep each sample unique and in English.
For the opt-out wording itself, and how HighLevel can add it automatically, see the consent and opt-out setup guide.
What counts as opt-in proof?
A reviewer must be able to see how a real person agrees to be texted. For a web form, give a working public link. If the opt-in is behind a login or on paper, provide a hosted image or screenshot. HighLevel says the proof must show your exact company name.
HighLevel’s article says the opt-in message should include program or company identification, message frequency, a message and data rates disclosure, HELP instructions and STOP instructions. Its rejection guide lists the consent errors it sees most (codes such as 30909, 30924 and 30925): consent that is not clearly collected, that is bundled into mandatory terms, or that lacks a separate unchecked SMS checkbox.
A form that passes these checks looks like this:
[ ] I agree to receive text messages from Acme Heating about my appointment and service offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase. See our Privacy Policy and Terms.
The sample wording is ours, not HighLevel’s; adapt it to your own program, and have counsel review it if you text for marketing.
What does A2P registration cost on LC Phone?
The fee article lists three kinds of cost: the one-time bundle above, a monthly campaign fee, and $15 for each additional campaign under the same brand. HighLevel says these are passed through from The Campaign Registry, Twilio and carriers with no HighLevel markup.
| Campaign use case | Monthly fee |
|---|---|
| Sole Proprietor (Starter Campaign) | $2.00 |
| Standard campaign use cases | $10.00 |
| Low Volume Mixed use case | $1.50 |
| Special use: Charity / 501(c)(3) | $3.00 |
| Special use: Emergency Services | $5.00 |
Source: HighLevel help center, checked 2026-10-13. The article says fees may vary by use case sub-type and can change at any time because outside providers set them.
The A2P fee calculator does this sum for your brand type, and HighLevel’s own SMS rates are in the pricing calculator. If a campaign is rejected, the fee article says resubmission carries no additional Campaign Vetting Fee.
What do I do after the campaign is approved?
Open Settings > Phone System > Phone Numbers and look for the green A2P Verified label on each sending number. If a number lacks it, link it to the approved campaign. HighLevel notes carrier systems can take several business days to fully receive the registration, so test before a large send.
Test like this:
- Send a text from the number to phones on at least two carriers.
- Reply STOP from one of them and confirm the contact’s SMS DND turns on (details in the consent guide).
- Check the conversation for a delivery status. An error code points to the fix in the error code guide.
When it still fails, the cause is usually one of the rejection categories below. HighLevel’s rejection reference groups them as follows.
| Category | Example codes | What reviewers found | Fix |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opt-in and consent | 30909, 30924, 30925 | Consent not clearly collected, bundled into mandatory terms, or no separate unchecked SMS box | Make SMS consent optional with its own checkbox and the disclosures beside it |
| Website | 30919, 30921, 30922 | No business details, login wall, or not working | Publish a public page with company name, services, contact info and SMS program details |
| Business identity | 30915, 30918, 30971 | Details do not match, or a personal email is used | Align names, use a business email domain, register the right brand type |
| Use case and content | 30886, 30893, 30911 | Vague description, missing or identical samples, mislabeled use case | Detailed description and distinct samples that match the use case |

When should I get help with A2P registration?
If you have been rejected twice, if your business name and EIN do not match anywhere you control, or if you run many sub-accounts under one agency, a second pair of eyes saves weeks. aibrevo’s GoHighLevel service includes registration work in builds, and scope decides the price; see pricing or send a message. For the wider legal picture around texting, start from the compliance guide. This page is not legal advice.
