Zapier October 2026 Updates: What Is New for CRM Automation

As of October 14, 2026, Zapier's Help Center product updates list nothing for October. The newest entry is September 2026 (a Zendesk API token deadline of April 30, 2027). The changes that matter for CRM teams date from earlier: Pipedrive V1 steps retired July 31, 2026, AI by Zapier model-based task pricing from June 15, 2026, and MCP tool calls at 2 tasks each.

Key takeaways

  • Checked October 14, 2026: Zapier's Help Center product updates page lists no October 2026 entry. The newest listed entry is in September 2026. The page shows months, not days, so exact release days are not stated.
  • Pipedrive retired all V1 API endpoints on July 31, 2026. Zaps still using steps labeled DEPRECATING JULY 31 2026 stop working until each step is switched to its V2 version and its field mappings are rebuilt.
  • Since June 15, 2026, an AI by Zapier step uses tasks by model tier: Standard 1x, Advanced 3x, Premium 5x, your own AI account 1x. A step that reaches 75 tasks in one run pauses for approval.
  • Zapier's pricing page says one MCP tool call uses two tasks. Agents draw on a separate activity quota, not tasks.
  • Usage alerts for task spikes are an Enterprise-only feature, listed in May 2026 product updates.

What did Zapier release in October 2026?

Nothing that Zapier’s own listings show yet. On October 14, 2026 the Help Center product updates category ended at September 2026, and the blog posts Zapier dated October 13 and 14 were a customer story, an app comparison and how-to articles. This page therefore does not invent October releases. It lists the dated changes from the past six months that affect CRM automation, so you can check whether any of them is breaking a Zap today.

One limit on dating: the Help Center page groups entries by month and does not print the day. Where only a month is known, this page says so.

When Change Why a CRM team cares

July 21, 2026 Zapier Lead Router usage now shows on the Task Usage and Zap History pages Lead routing Zaps; the jump in the chart is display, not new usage
June 15, 2026 AI by Zapier steps priced by model tier (1x, 3x, 5x tasks) AI lead scoring or summarizing steps inside CRM Zaps
May 2026 Usage alerts for task spikes (Enterprise only) Teams watching runaway CRM syncs
May 2026 Zaps require owner access to every app connection they use Shared CRM connections: a Zap’s owner must be able to use each one

Is my Pipedrive Zap still working after July 31, 2026?

Zapier’s notice says Pipedrive retired all V1 API endpoints on July 31, 2026, and that Zaps using the affected V1 steps stop working after that date until they are updated. That date has passed, so check now. The affected steps include triggers such as New Deal, Updated Deal in Stage and New Person; searches such as Find Deal and Find Person; and actions such as Create Deal, Update Deal and Create Organization. Each was renamed with the label [DEPRECATING JULY 31 2026].

To fix a Zap, Zapier’s steps are:

  1. In My Apps, filter by Pipedrive and look for the deprecation label in step names.
  2. Open the step, go to the Setup tab and choose the same event name without the label.
  3. Reconfigure and test the step, then remap fields in every later step.
  4. Test the whole Zap and turn it back on.

The V2 outputs return less data per object than V1. Zapier’s example: if a New Activity trigger used the deal title, add a Get Deal search after it, pass in the deal_id and map the title from that search. Each added search is a successful action step, so it also uses a task. If you maintain Pipedrive automations, see our Pipedrive automation guide and Pipedrive API integration guide. For what Pipedrive itself has shipped this year, see Pipedrive 2026 product updates.

How does AI by Zapier use tasks now?

Since June 15, 2026 the model tier you pick sets how many tasks an AI by Zapier step uses per run, according to Zapier’s help article:

Tier Task multiplier Tools
Standard 1x No
Advanced 3x (default for new steps) Yes
Premium 5x Yes
Your own AI account 1x n/a

Tool calls add to the base cost at the same rate, and a step that reaches 75 tasks in a single run pauses until someone approves it. The feature is not available on the Free plan. For a CRM Zap that summarizes a call note with an Advanced-tier step for each new lead, the step costs 3 tasks where a Standard step costs 1, before any tools it calls. The worked arithmetic is on our Zapier pricing and task limits page.

How many tasks does a Zapier MCP call use?

Two. Zapier’s pricing page states that one MCP tool call uses two tasks from your plan’s quota, and the task usage article adds that failed calls do not count. MCP lets an AI client call your Zapier actions, so a CRM assistant that looks up and updates records can use tasks quickly: 2,500 successful calls in a month is 5,000 tasks. Zapier Agents are different. Their usage draws on a separate activity quota.

What else changed since spring that affects CRM Zaps?

  • Owner access (May 2026). When you turn on or publish a Zap, the editor checks that the Zap’s owner can access every app connection it uses. If a CRM connection is not shared with the owner, the Zap cannot be turned on.
  • Usage alerts (May 2026). Enterprise admins can set a task threshold and get email and in-app alerts that link to the Zaps using the most tasks, with an option to pause one. Free, Professional and Team do not have it.
  • Lead Router display (July 21, 2026). Lead Router has counted 5 tasks per routed lead before and after this date. From July 21 the usage shows on the Task Usage and Zap History pages, attributed to the triggering Zap, so a chart spanning that date can look like a spike.
  • Zendesk (September 2026). Zendesk is removing API token authentication. Zaps on the legacy v1.x.x Zendesk version must be moved to the OAuth 2.0 version before April 30, 2027.

What this means for you

  • Pipedrive users: open My Apps today and search for the deprecation label. Do not assume a Zap is healthy because it shows as on.
  • Anyone adding AI steps: pick the lowest model tier that does the job. The default for new steps is Advanced (3x).
  • Teams on Free, Professional or Team: you have no usage alerts, so set a calendar check on Task Usage after launching any new CRM sync.
  • Teams weighing Zapier against built-in workflows: compare task cost with a flat plan before scaling. Our CRM pricing comparison lists flat and per-seat CRM prices, and GoHighLevel + Zapier vs native integrations covers when a native workflow is the cheaper layer.

If a Zapier-to-CRM automation is breaking or costing more than expected, send aibrevo a message with the Zap description and we will scope a fix.

FAQs

What did Zapier announce in October 2026?

Nothing in the product updates listing as of October 14, 2026. The Help Center product updates category ends at September 2026, and the Zapier blog posts dated October 13 and 14 are a customer story, an app comparison and how-to posts, not product announcements. Check the listing again before relying on this.

Did Zapier change its pricing in 2026?

Zapier changed how AI by Zapier steps consume tasks on June 15, 2026: a step now uses tasks by model tier (1x, 3x or 5x). The plan task tiers and prices on the pricing page, checked October 14, 2026, are covered in our Zapier pricing and task limits reference.

Do my Pipedrive Zaps still work after July 31, 2026?

Only if the steps were moved to the V2 versions. Zapier says Zaps that depend on the deprecated V1 steps stop working after July 31, 2026. In My Apps, filter by Pipedrive and look for steps labeled DEPRECATING JULY 31 2026, then switch each step to the same event without the label and remap later fields.

How many tasks does a Zapier MCP call use?

Two tasks per successful tool call, according to Zapier's pricing page and task usage article. Failed calls do not count. A workflow where an AI client makes 2,500 successful calls in a month uses 5,000 tasks, which is the whole allowance of the 5,000-task Professional tier.

Do Zapier Agents use tasks?

No. Zapier's help article on task usage says Zapier Agents usage draws on a separate activity quota, and the pricing page says agent activities and chatbot limits are separate add-ons that do not draw from the task pool.

Can I set a usage alert for Zapier task spikes?

Only on Enterprise. The May 2026 product update on usage alerts marks Free, Professional and Team as unavailable. Admins on Enterprise set their own threshold in the Admin Center and get email and in-app alerts that link to the Zaps using the most tasks.
